The midterm elections are over- and more than expected – the Dems have won control of both the House and the Senate. So the next 28 months, we have a Republican president and a Democratic Hill. Will be an interesting working combination.
So what lessons are learnt – actually nothing. Come another election cycle – this whole cycle will probably reverse itself. Because the Dems will probably raise taxes, will probably institute protectionist trade policies for short term political expediency, follow regressive Immigration laws. And most of all, they will be eventually judged now, on how Iraq is handled. And the place is in such a mess now – its impossible for the American troops to just get up and scoot. But leaving them behind will be “staying the course” – which the Dems have been vociferously opposed to.
Among other things, nothing much to report on the India front. India seems unduly calm.
