Here’s another observation on the subversive strategies used by a lot of bloggers to increase their readership – comment on your blog on specific entries of blogs that have huge readerships – and sure enough, soon there is enough cross pollination to increase your blogs readership, higher rankings on Technorati, accolades of the most relevant blogger on the Internet or whatever rocks your boat. Personally, I think its almost as effective as posting comments on other blogs.
Of course, that is not to say that there aren’t bloggers who get readers simply because they are very relevant, bright and captivating writers. As a matter of fact, there are loads. One is just amazed at the quality of some of the blogs one would stumble upon sometimes.
But the fact remains, there is also a cesspool of rather un-inspired writing – and some of the perpetrators have to indulge in, what I think is essentially “cyber sycophancy”.
